Coaches and lessons

A lesson in Nola is one booking that reserves two resources at once: a coach and a court. Both must be free for the whole lesson, so a coach is never double-booked and never ends up without a court.

#Add a coach

1. Open Services → Coaches in the sidebar.
2. Under Add coach, enter a Name such as "Coach Anna".
3. Enter the coach's Price / hour.
4. Optionally pick a team member in Link to team member (optional). The linked person can then see their own lessons.
5. Under Weekly hours, tick the days the coach works and set start and end times. Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 is filled in to start.
6. Click Create.

A coach is a resource of type Coach / instructor, so it also appears under Services → Resources, where you can change its colour, order or hourly rate.

#How lessons are priced

The lesson price is the coach's hourly rate plus the court's hourly rate, prorated to the lesson length. For example, a coach at €40 per hour and a court at €20 per hour make a 90-minute lesson cost €90.

Set the court's rate in Price / hour on its resource card under Services → Resources.

#Book a lesson for a client

1. On Services → Coaches, go to Book lesson for client.
2. Pick the Coach.
3. Pick a court, or leave Any free court and Nola picks the first free one.
4. Pick the client, or leave Walk-in for someone without a client record.
5. Set the Date, Time and duration in minutes.
6. Add notes if needed and click Book lesson.

If the coach or every court is busy, you see why and nothing is booked. Your booking rules and blocked time apply to lessons too.

#See a coach's day

Under Coach calendars, each coach has a card with a date picker. It lists that day's lessons with time, client, court and price. Staff with the coach role only see their own calendar.

#What your customers see

Sports businesses get a Book with a trainer button on their public booking page. Customers pick a coach, a date and a lesson length, and only see start times where the coach and a court are both free.
